Economics is the study of making choices.  It is about how, as individuals and groups, we get the things we want to buy and the services we need and want.  Students investigate both Microeconomics (understanding the behaviour of individual people and firms) and Macroeconomics (understanding the behaviour of the economy as a whole) and are examined on both.  The level of challenge is high, covering concepts and theories in a range of contexts to appreciate their value and limitations in explaining real world phenomena.

In September 2016 GGS will be offering GCSE Economics to Year 9 students in order to allow them to experience the content and ideas prior to their A Level choices. The new AQA GCSE specification includes Financial Markets and Globalisation, both of which have been picked out by the students as being key areas to focus future career choices.
