Headteacher announces retirement

I write to tell you all that I shall be stepping down as the Headteacher of Gravesend Grammar School at the end of August 2018.

I have really enjoyed my time here and have had great pleasure from working with so many talented students and outstanding colleagues over nearly 18 years.  I believe it takes boundless energy to lead a school like this where so much is achieved, so many challenges are met, and it is for this reason alone that I feel the time is right for a younger person to take up the reins and steer Gravesend Grammar School through the next phase of its development.

My decision has been made now to allow plenty of time to find a high calibre candidate and that process starts this week with national advertisements.

Although the school will have a new Headteacher, I shall remain, in a part-time capacity, as Executive Head of the Gravesend Grammar School Academies Trust, as we look to consolidate and expand our work with other local schools in the Trust.

It has been a great experience working with families and generations of young people in Gravesham and one that I shall greatly miss.
